The Bourne Water Dragons, with the help of a few volunteers, came together to clean up their base at Iford Playing Fields.

Bourne Water Dragons, based at the home of the Sea Cadets at Iford Playing Fields, met up, carrying tools of all descriptions to tidy up and control the abundance of overrun vegetation.

With the nettles high and the grounds overgrown, a dedicated crew of volunteers came together over two afternoons to tackle the task. Armed with tools and plenty of determination, we chopped, cut, brushed, and cleared around the clubhouse.

What a team! There’s never a shortage of willing hands — volunteers show up ready to help, no matter the conditions. Our site is basic, but we take pride in keeping our base clean and welcoming.

After all the hard work, we rewarded ourselves with a relaxing paddle on the water. It was a warm, beautiful evening and the perfect way to celebrate our efforts. Of course, this was rounded off with people mingling whilst devouring tea and cakes.

Here are some photos from the clean-up and paddle, proving what a fun day it turned out to be.
